Food & Drink Domain Names
The food and drink industry is built on flavour, atmosphere, and reputation, and your domain name should convey all three. Dedicated extensions like .pub, .cafe, .restaurant, .bar, and .wine let customers know exactly what to expect before they even visit your website. These domains are as inviting as a warm kitchen.
From traditional British pubs to artisan coffee shops, from fine dining restaurants to craft breweries, the hospitality sector thrives on personality and local character. A domain like yourname.pub or yourname.cafe is more memorable and descriptive than a generic .com, and it helps your venue stand out in local search results where competition is fierce.
At 365i, we offer a wide selection of food and drink domain extensions. Whether you are building a website for your restaurant, starting a recipe blog, or promoting a catering business, our domains include free DNS management and email forwarding to get your online presence plated up in no time.
Picking between .cafe, .coffee, .pub, .restaurant and .menu
Start where the customer starts. Somebody hungry in your town opens Google Maps, not the address bar, so the extension on your sign does less work than a registrar will tell you. It has to survive a shopfront, an A-board, the side of a van, and being read out over a bad phone line.
.cafe and .coffee split cleanly once you ask what you sell. A .cafe address describes a room with tables in it. A .coffee address describes the bean, which is why it fits roasters, wholesalers and subscription bags better than a shop with a counter. Sell beans as well as flat whites and .coffee stretches. Sell seats, and coffee is only half your menu.
Length is the next filter. .pub is three letters, fits on a pump clip, and no British customer will mishear it. .bar is three as well, but it reads as a drinks bar, a legal bar, or the kind you snap in half, so the word in front has to carry the meaning. .restaurant and .catering run to ten and nine characters: unmistakable in an email signature, tiring on a card. People pluralise .menu and drop the s off .recipes, so before either goes on print, say the address aloud to a stranger and watch them write it down.
When the answer is a .co.uk
For one venue trading to people within a few miles, it usually is. Google treats .pizza and .cafe exactly as it treats .com, and says a keyword in the extension buys no ranking advantage. A .co.uk is one of the few geographic signals it still reads, and the country-targeting setting that stood in for one was removed from Search Console in September 2022. The cheapest food extension here also costs about three times a .co.uk, and .recipes more than seven. Take the .co.uk, then add the food one if you like how it looks on the window.
What we would suggest
-
An independent coffee shop with tables
.cafeIt describes the room rather than the drink, so it still fits the day you start doing brunch and sourdough. Nobody needs telling how to spell cafe, and there is no accent to get wrong in a web address.
-
A roaster selling beans by post
.coffeeNames the product, not the premises, which is what a wholesale list or a subscription bag needs. Somebody ordering beans online is not looking for somewhere to sit down.
-
A village pub or gastropub
.pubThree letters, so it fits on a beer mat, a pump clip or a chalkboard without shrinking the name in front of it. It is also the one word here that survives a noisy bar and a bad phone signal.
-
A single named venue taking bookings
.restaurantIt explains itself inside a booking confirmation or a reply-to address, with no covering sentence needed. The price of that clarity is ten characters, so keep the name in front of it short.
-
A takeaway printing QR code menus
.menuWorks best as a second domain pointed at one page. Printed under a QR square on a table card or a takeaway lid, it tells the customer what they will get if the camera refuses to focus.
-
A farm shop with a box scheme
.farmCovers growing, selling and serving in a single word, so a holding with a shop, a veg round and a tea room does not have to decide which third of the business the address describes.

Mistakes we see with food & drink domains
Worth reading before you register, because most of these cost money to undo.
-
Printing yourvenue.cafe on the awning and never registering yourvenue.co.uk. British customers type .co.uk from habit, so some of them land on nothing, and the .co.uk version of your trading name is still sitting there for anyone else to buy after you have paid for the signage.
Do this insteadRegister the .co.uk at the same time and point it at the same site. It is under a tenner a year here, which is less than reprinting one A-board.
-
Choosing an extension that names one product. A pizzeria on .pizza that adds pasta. A distillery on .vodka that starts making gin. A brewery on .beer whose taproom kitchen turns out to be the half that pays the rent.
Do this insteadIf the range is likely to widen, take the broader word: .restaurant, .bar, .food and .farm all survive a menu change. Keep the single-product extension for a bottle label or one campaign.
-
Ordering signage before checking the matching social handles are free. Hospitality gets found through Instagram and Facebook as much as through search, and a venue whose sign, website and handle each say something slightly different loses people in the gaps.
Do this insteadSearch the exact name on the platforms you will actually post to, then register the domain and claim the handles in the same sitting, before anything goes to the printer.
-
Reading the first-year price as the forever price. Short or obvious names in these extensions are often classed as premium by the registry, and a premium price applies to every renewal rather than only the first one.
Do this insteadCheck the renewal figure at checkout, not just the registration figure, and budget the food extension as a recurring bill for as long as the venue trades. Registry pricing moves: Identity Digital, which operates most of the extensions on this page, changed its wholesale prices across 231 extensions in October 2025, a median rise of 12 per cent.
-
Taking .recipes for a food blog that has not been written yet. It is the dearest extension in this category, more than seven times a .co.uk, and a blog that stops in month four still has a renewal notice waiting in year two.
Do this insteadStart the recipes on a .co.uk, or in a folder of the venue site where they can pull in searches for the kitchen. Move to .recipes once there is enough published to justify the annual cost.

Food & Drink Domains FAQ
The .pub extension is ideal for British pubs, gastropubs, and bars. It is one of the most intuitive domain extensions available, customers immediately understand what your business is. It also performs well in local search results when combined with good local SEO practices.
Whilst .restaurant is longer than some extensions, it is extremely clear and descriptive. For a business called "The Oak", theoakrestaurant.com is longer than theoak.restaurant and less distinctive. The clarity of the extension can actually make the overall address more memorable.
The .recipes extension is purpose-built for recipe content. Alternatively, .cooking works well for broader culinary content. Both are descriptive, memorable, and clearly communicate the nature of your site to visitors and search engines.
Yes. Food and drink domains have no restrictions on the type or size of business. Street food vendors, food trucks, market stalls, and pop-up kitchens can all benefit from a memorable .cafe, .menu, or .catering domain.
Your domain extension alone does not directly affect Google Maps rankings. However, a relevant domain linked to a properly configured Google Business Profile, combined with good local SEO, creates a stronger overall presence that can improve your visibility in local search and map results.
Yes, and it is the cheapest decision on this page. Pick one address as the real one, build the site there, and point the other at it with a redirect so both work while only one gets indexed. Most UK venues put the site on the .co.uk and save the .cafe for print, because .co.uk is what a customer types from memory. Every domain here includes free DNS management, email forwarding and a 10GB mailbox, so the second name can still carry bookings@ at no extra cost.
Yes, and by a wide margin. The cheapest extension in this category runs to roughly three times a .co.uk, and .recipes to more than seven times. Renewal is where that shows, because a domain is an annual bill for as long as the business trades rather than a one-off setup cost. Registry pricing also moves: Identity Digital, which runs most of the extensions listed here, changed wholesale prices across 231 of its extensions in October 2025, at a median rise of 12 per cent. Short names are frequently premium, and a premium price repeats every year.
More often than anything else in this category, because .food only opened to the public in March 2024. It went into the root zone in 2016 under Lifestyle Domain Holdings and then sat unused; the registry moved to Internet Naming Co. in January 2024, sunrise opened on 24 January and general availability began on 6 March. Everything else here has been on sale since 2013, 2014 or 2015, so the obvious one-word names went years ago. If your trading name is a common English word, .food is the one to check first.
