What is a .vodka domain?
The .vodka domain serves distilleries, spirits brands, vodka bars, and cocktail bloggers. The premium spirits market relies on brand identity, and .vodka delivers that from the first character of the URL. Whether you run a small-batch distillery in the Scottish Highlands or an Eastern European vodka import business, .vodka positions your brand squarely in the spirits category.
Who should register .vodka?

What a .vodka domain does on a bottle label
Registry Services, LLC signed the .vodka registry agreement with ICANN on 19 December 2013 and the extension has been open ever since. No drinks-trade test, no distillery licence, no age check at the point of registration. GoDaddy Registry, which operates it, publishes individual eligibility policies for a handful of its extensions, .law and .nrw among them, and .vodka is not one of them. The general registration policy applies instead: you warrant that your details are true and that the name and its use fit the purpose of the extension and the law where you are.
That last clause is worth reading twice. Alcohol marketing is regulated in most markets, and buying an address that names a spirit changes nothing about what you may put behind it. Age gating, responsible drinking wording and advertising rules sit with the site, not with the registry.
As branding it works hardest where the word is doing a job: a single-product distillery, a bar's cocktail menu, a competition page printed on a back label. As a permanent company address it welds you to one spirit, which is awkward the day you launch a gin.
Is .vodka the right choice for you?
We would rather sell you the right extension once than the wrong one twice.
.vodka works well if
- You bottle one spirit and the brand is the vodka, so the address reads as the product name rather than as a category you happen to sit in.
- You need a short URL for a back label, a bar menu or a competition card, where every character costs print space.
- The .com for your brand went to an unrelated business years ago and you would rather own the category word than pad the name out with filler.
Look elsewhere if
- You plan to add a gin, a rum or a canned mixer. The ending names one product and will look wrong the day the range widens.
- Your buyers are UK retailers and shoppers searching from Britain. A .co.uk carries a local signal in Google that .vodka does not, and costs far less each year.
- You expect the domain to help with the legal side. It does not: age verification and alcohol advertising rules apply to the site whatever the address ends in.
Building a drinks company rather than a single bottle? Register the .co.uk as the permanent home and point the .vodka at it. See .co.uk pricing.
.vodka vs .com: which should you register?
Nobody types a .vodka address by guesswork, and that is the whole trade. A .com is what a customer's fingers do without thinking, which is why a brand holding its spirits .com rarely needs anything else. A .vodka has to be seen first, on a label, a pump clip, a poster or a QR code, and once seen it is easier to remember than a hyphenated .com fallback.
The usual answer is both. Keep the .com or the .co.uk as the address on invoices and email signatures, and use the .vodka where the packaging design has room for six characters rather than sixteen. Pointing one at the other costs nothing beyond the second registration.
.vodka domain questions, answered
What people ask us before registering a .vodka domain.
Can't find what you're looking for?
Ask us directlyNo. .vodka is open to anyone worldwide. GoDaddy Registry publishes separate eligibility policies for the extensions that restrict who may register, .law and .nrw among them, and .vodka has no such policy. What the general registration policy asks is that the details you give are accurate and that the name and its use are consistent with the purpose of the extension and applicable law. A cocktail blog or a bar qualifies as readily as a distillery.
The domain has no bearing on that either way. Selling alcohol online is governed by licensing, age verification and advertising rules in the country you sell into, and those apply identically to a .com, a .co.uk and a .vodka. The registry policy requires the name and its use to comply with applicable laws, so the obligations travel with you rather than being waived by the ending. Get the licensing right first and treat the domain as marketing.
Only as a second address. The extension names one spirit, so a distillery with a gin and a rum in the range ends up with a domain describing a third of what it makes. The usual arrangement is a neutral .co.uk or .com for the company, with the .vodka pointed at the product page for the one bottle it fits. That keeps the printed label short without tying the whole company to a single category.
