What is a .luxury domain?
The .luxury domain is reserved for the top end of the market. High-end fashion houses, luxury travel operators, premium property developers, and fine jewellers all operate in a space where brand perception is everything. A .luxury domain sets the tone before a visitor sees a single product. It tells them to expect quality, exclusivity, and price tags to match.

Does a .luxury domain read premium or aspiring?
Luxury Partners, LLC, a California company, has run .luxury since the registry agreement was signed in October 2013, and it has never asked a registrant to prove anything. No price threshold, no brand approval, no membership. The word is available to a Bond Street jeweller and to somebody selling watch straps from a bedroom on identical terms, which is the difficulty with an extension that makes a claim on your behalf.
The customer you are aiming at has spent two decades typing .com for brands at this end of the market, and habit is most of what a domain is trading on. So a .luxury address tends to read as ambition rather than arrival to exactly the buyer it was chosen to impress. That is not fatal, but it does change where the extension belongs: on a campaign or a category site pointed at a main address, rather than as the front door.
Where it works well is category naming. A phrase plus the extension, something along the lines of villas.luxury or watches.luxury, reads as a proposition rather than a boast, and those words stayed findable here long after the equivalent .com had gone. At roughly double a .com annually, budget for it as marketing rather than infrastructure.
Is .luxury the right choice for you?
We would rather sell you the right extension once than the wrong one twice.
.luxury works well if
- You are naming a category or a marketplace rather than a brand, and a word like villas or yachts is still available here when it is long gone on .com.
- You run a campaign or an editorial title aimed at high-spending buyers, and the address is doing advertising work rather than administrative work.
- You already own the .com and want the .luxury held defensively before somebody sells knock-offs from it.
Look elsewhere if
- You are the luxury brand. Your customers expect a .com, and choosing anything else invites a question about why you could not get one.
- You are early stage. An extension that announces a price point before the product exists sets an expectation you then have to meet on every page.
- Cost matters. This is around double a .com every year, and a domain bill is one of the few costs that never goes away.
Selling premium goods to buyers who type from memory? A .com is what they expect, and expectation is most of the luxury business. See .com pricing.
.luxury vs .com: which should you register?
In this market the .com is not just the safer choice, it is part of the signal. A recognised house on a .com looks established because that is where established houses live. The same name on .luxury asks the visitor to notice the domain, and noticing the domain is rarely what you want a luxury customer doing.
That said, .com scarcity is real, and a two-word premium name is long gone. If the choice is between a padded .com and a clean category word on .luxury, the shorter address may serve you better in print and in speech. Own both if you can, point the .luxury at the .com, and let the familiar one take the transactions.
.luxury domain questions, answered
What people ask us before registering a .luxury domain.
Can't find what you're looking for?
Ask us directlyNo. Luxury Partners, LLC applies no eligibility criteria, requests no evidence of price point, brand status or turnover, and the ICANN registry agreement is a standard non-sponsored one with no community registration policy. Anyone anywhere can register one on a first come, first served basis. That openness is worth knowing from the buyer's side too: because nobody is vetted, the extension itself is not evidence that a site behind it sells anything premium.
It is neutral. Google reads .luxury as a generic extension, so the word after the dot carries no ranking weight and no geographic signal. Rankings for luxury-related queries come from the same places they always do: content depth, brand searches, links and site quality. Where the extension can help indirectly is click-through, because an address that describes the category can look more relevant in a results page than an abstract brand name a searcher has never seen.
Because their customers do not need to be told, and .com is the address those customers have typed for twenty years. Established houses already hold short, memorable .com names, so there is no availability problem for them to solve and no upside in moving. That leaves .luxury most useful to newer entrants and to category or marketplace sites, where the extension supplies context the brand name cannot yet supply on its own.
