Domain Restrictions
General Domain Rules
The following rules apply to all domain names registered through 365i. Domain names are subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant registry authority.
- Your domain must be unique, a domain name that is not already in use. You can verify availability using our domain search tool.
- Domain names are not case-sensitive.
- Two-letter domain names are not permitted under any extension.
Character Restrictions
Domain names may only contain the following characters:
- ASCII letters: a–z, A–Z
- Numbers: 0–9
- Hyphens (-), permitted but must be surrounded by other characters; cannot appear at the start or end of a domain name
The following are not permitted:
- Special characters such as #, *, %, &, !, or @
- Spaces
- Hyphens at the start or end of the domain name
Length Limits
Maximum and minimum character counts vary by extension (excluding the extension itself):
- .com, .net, .org, .info: Maximum 67 characters
- .info, .biz: Minimum 3 characters
- Other extensions: Maximum 22 characters
Common Generic Extensions
Below are the common generic top-level domains available through 365i and their typical usage:
- .com
- Commercial or personal websites. The most widely recognised domain extension.
- .net
- Internet infrastructure companies and network-related organisations.
- .org
- Not-for-profit organisations, communities, and open-source projects.
- .info
- Commercial or personal information-based websites.
- .biz
- Restricted to commercial and business purposes only.
- .mobi
- Websites optimised for mobile devices.
Country-Specific Extensions
Country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs) may have additional eligibility requirements set by their registry authority:
- .co.uk
- United Kingdom. Available for commercial and personal use.
- .org.uk
- United Kingdom. Intended for charities and non-profit organisations.
- .ca
- Canada. Requires Canadian presence per CIRA (Canadian Internet Registration Authority) requirements.
- .de
- Germany. Available for commercial and personal use.
- .eu
- European Union. Requires presence within the EU.
- .cc
- Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Widely used for commercial and personal websites.
- .jp
- Japan. Available for commercial and personal use.
- .us
- United States. Available for commercial and personal use.
