What .rocks signals, and when it ages badly
Say it out loud before you buy it. The word rocks turns a web address into a claim about your own business, and unlike a logo you cannot quietly redesign it in three years. Almost everything else on this page follows from that one decision.
For a handful of businesses the word is a plain noun. .rocks vs .com: which should you register?
These two are barely competing for the same job. A .com is the address people type when they are guessing, which is the single most valuable property any extension has. A .rocks is the address people remember after hearing it once, which is a different and much narrower kind of value.
Where .com wins: it is the default in every browser, on every business card and in every half-remembered conversation, and it says nothing about you that you have not chosen to say.
