What is a .uno domain?
The .uno domain means "one" in Spanish and Italian, making it a natural choice for brands targeting Spanish-speaking audiences worldwide. Managed by Radix, .uno was built as the first Hispanic domain extension. With over 500 million Spanish speakers globally and booming internet adoption across Latin America, .uno taps into a massive and growing digital market. It's open to anyone worldwide.

Who owns .uno now, and why the pitch changed
.uno has changed hands more often than most extensions change price. IANA's records show it delegated to Dot Latin LLC in November 2013, transferred to DotSite Inc in October 2019, to Radix FZC in August 2021 and to Radix Technologies Inc in February 2024. Four operators in a decade, for a namespace with a single word behind it.
The pitch moved with the ownership. Radix now markets .uno on the number one reading rather than the Spanish-language one, describing it as succinct, versatile and universally recognised as signifying number one. That is a fair reading of the word, and it is a different promise from the one the extension launched with. If you are buying .uno to signal Spanish or Latin American identity, be aware that the registry itself no longer leads with that.
Practically it behaves like any Radix extension: open registration with no eligibility conditions, back-end registry services from CentralNic, reserved and premium-priced names set at the registry's discretion, and the standard ICANN dispute policies. Nothing here asks for a document or a local presence.
Is .uno the right choice for you?
We would rather sell you the right extension once than the wrong one twice.
.uno works well if
- Your brand already leans on being first or best, so the word does the work without you having to explain it.
- You want a short generic ending where the .com equivalent has gone, and the word itself is the point rather than any country.
- You are naming a product line or a campaign where a single-word ending suits the tone better than a corporate address.
Look elsewhere if
- You are relying on it to read as Spanish. The registry now markets it on the number one meaning, and a Spanish audience is reached better by a Spanish ccTLD.
- You want registry stability. Four operator changes in a decade is more churn than most extensions see, and pricing tiers sit at the registry's discretion.
- Your customers are UK consumers who type .com by reflex. An unfamiliar generic ending costs you traffic you never get to see.
Actually targeting Spain? A .es reaches Spanish searchers in a way a generic ending cannot. See .es pricing.
.uno vs .es: which should you register?
These two get pitched at the same buyer and they work in opposite ways. .uno is a generic extension that happens to be a Spanish and Italian word. .es is Spain's country code, which Google reads as a geographic signal and which Spanish visitors recognise without being told.
If the goal is Spanish-speaking customers in Spain, the country code wins on every measure that matters: local ranking, local trust, and a lower annual price here. If the goal is a brand that means first, .uno is doing something a country code cannot, and it does it in English-speaking markets too, because uno has crossed over. Decide which of those two jobs you are hiring the domain to do, because it will not do both well.
.uno domain questions, answered
What people ask us before registering a .uno domain.
Can't find what you're looking for?
Ask us directlyNo. It is a generic extension open to anyone in the world, with no connection to Spain, Italy or Latin America beyond the word itself. It launched with a Hispanic-market pitch under Dot Latin LLC in 2013, but the registry running it today markets it on the number one meaning instead. If you need an address that signals Spain to Spanish searchers, .es does that and .uno does not.
Radix Technologies Inc, since February 2024. IANA's delegation record traces the whole chain: Dot Latin LLC took the original delegation in November 2013, DotSite Inc acquired it in October 2019, Radix FZC in August 2021 and Radix Technologies in February 2024. CentralNic provides the back-end registry services. Frequent operator changes do not affect a domain you already hold, because ICANN requires continuity of registry operations, but they do tell you how settled the namespace is.
Less than you would hope. The word is understood, but a domain ending is a weak targeting signal next to content in the right language, sensible hosting and a country-code address. Google uses country codes such as .mx, .ar and .co as geographic signals; it treats .uno as generic. If one Latin American market matters most, buy that country code. If several do, a generic address with proper regional content will serve you better than a handful of country codes nobody has time to maintain.
